Set Alternate Greeting on a Cisco Phone

Step-by-Step Guide (Phone Menu Method)
This is the most common method for Cisco Unity/Connection systems:

  1. Initiate Voicemail: Pick up your handset or press the Speakerphone button, then press the Messages (envelope) button.
  2. Log In: Enter your PIN followed by the # key when prompted.
  3. Access Setup: Press 4 for "Setup Options" (or say "Setup Options").
  4. Go to Greetings: Press 1 (or say "Greetings") to manage greetings.
  5. Select Alternate Greeting: Press 3 to "Edit other Greetings," then select the specific alternate greeting you want to change (e.g., by pressing the corresponding number).
  6. Record: Press 1 (or say "Record") and speak your greeting after the tone.
  7. End Recording: Press # (or stay silent for a few seconds) to stop recording.
  8. Activate (If Needed): You'll often be prompted to turn it on/off and set a duration; press 2 to turn on the alternate greeting and follow prompts for start/end dates.

  • 8: Pause/Resume Recording.
  • #: End Recording, Skip.
  • 4: Setup Options.
  • 1: Greetings/Change Greeting.
  • 3: Edit Other Greetings.
  • 2: Turn Alternate Greeting On/Off.
